Day 1 – Pickup Entebbe and Transfer to Hotel – Stay in Kampala
We pick you up from the airport in Entebbe (Uganda) and transfer you to Kampala where you will be welcomed in your accommodation. Afterwards you will do a walking tour through Kampala where you will see the Great Mosque, the Government District and also the Trading District of Kampala (including Street Markets, Taxi Ranks and the buzzing streets of Kampala). Don't worry the Eastern African metropole is safe and you don't have to worry about anything once it lies in our hands.
Day 2 – Drive from Kampala to Murchison Falls via Rhino sanctuary and Game Drive in the Park
We'll start the day with a meet and greet at 06:30am in your residence in Kampala. We then start our scenic drive to the Murchison Falls National Park. On our way we will visit a Rhino sanctuary where you have the chance to get a very close impression of those graceful pachyderms. You will see some of the 15 White Rhinos that call the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary their home. After approximately 4h of driving we will reach the gates of the largest National Park in Uganda. Upon arrival you will drop your luggage at the lodge and proceed for an afternoon/evening game-drive on the North bank of the park. At that time of the day you will be very likely to see Elephants and Buffalos not far from the crossing point. After the safari you will return to your accommodation and enjoy a peaceful night in the park. When we say peaceful we mean the sound of the savannah – it is most certainly more peaceful than the noisy streets of Kampala.
Day 3 – Game Drive and Boat Ride to the Murchison Falls
We will start this day very early as this is the time when the animals of the park are most active – looking for food, hunting and simply dealing with all the things that the hot days do not allow for. During our early morning game drive we will look out for Elephants, Lions, Buffalos, Giraffes, Hartebeests and many more. After we return from our game drive you will have a nice hearty lunch and some time to rest. When you have freshened up we will then advance for a boat trip on the good-natured Victoria Nile, upstream, to the base of the Falls. En route we will have the chance to meet hippos, crocodiles, water bucks and a wide variety of birds like the unusual shoebill stork. The boat stops just tens of meters from the "Devil’s Cauldron". You will be able to take pictures of the majestic Murchison Falls or simply enjoy this moment and capture it in your mind (something we really recommend). After disembarking from the boat we will take a hike to the Top of the Falls where you can see the Nile's beauty from above. Marveling at the Nile that is here compressing from 50 metres to squeeze through a 6 metre canyon dropping another 40 meters with a thunderous roar just to create a beautiful rainbow, a plume of spray that is known as the Murchison Falls. After this beautiful experience you will return to your accommodation for dinner and your last night in the park.
Day 4 – Chimp Trekking and Drive to Jinja
After an early morning we will start our forest walk in the Pabidi Forest where we will search for chimpanzees. Chimpanzees are man’s closest cousins though they are one of the most threatened primate species. Therefore chimp tracking has rules and regulations to follow that will be explained to you before you start your adventure. Other primates in this forest include l’ hoestes, red colobus, blue monkeys, red tailed monkeys and grey cheeked mangabeys. The guide will provide detailed explanations, not only about primates, but also regarding the forests flora and other animals to ensure that your walk is both informative and enjoyable. This activity is also excellent for bird watching. After a picnic we will gather at your accommodation and then start our drive to the south of the country. Our destination is Jinja – the famous source of the Nile and a world-renowned place for white water rafting, bungee jumping (if that is something you feel like doing) as well as kayaking. We will reach your accommodation in Jinja after approximately 6 hours in the late afternoon.
Day 5 – Rafting on the Nile (alternatively Kayaking) & Return to Kampala
After a good night of rest we will pick you up from the Nile River Camp/your accommodation with the NRE bus for a full day of white water rafting. For the less adventurous amongst you we offer kayaking instead of white water rafting on the Nile. A breakfast will be served at the Rafting office and we will also make sure that there are snacks available for you. After you have enjoyed the rafting you will (out of experience) be very hungry. We have catered for this and will have prepared a BBQ. After you have packed your bags we will return to Kampala where we will drop you at your accommodation. This will be your last night of this trip and you will most certainly have many beautiful memories to recapitulate.
Day 6 – Dropoff Entebbe
After your breakfast and depending on the time of your flight we will drive you to Entebbe. Should you have enough time and would like to take part in another activity we can e.g. arrange for a boat ride on Lake Victoria, Africa's largest and the worlds biggest tropical lake.
