Why should your next destination be Namibia?

Here are the Top 6 reasons why you should add Namibia to your Travel bucket list.

1. Safe Destination

Since gaining independence from South Africa in 1990 Namibia has enjoyed decades of political stability and good governance that has encouraged reconciliation and invested in education and infrastructure. It has one of the highest literacy rates on the continent and the media are allowed to cover opposing political parties and views, which is not always a given in African countries. Although the crime rate is high in Namibia’s capital, Windhoek, and other areas throughout the country, the beautiful country of Namibia is known as one of Africa’s safest countries.

2. Wildlife – More than a desert

At a glance this place may seem deserted, the reality is that there is a total of 240 reptile species, 650 bird species, and 80 large mammal species, of which, 14 birds and 15 mammals are almost entirely indigenous to the country.  Namibia boasts good elephant populations as well as giraffes, lions, and brown hyenas amongst others. It is in this area that the largest free-ranging population of black rhinos in Africa survive.

3. Incredible Landscapes

Namibia has breathtaking landscapes. There is no shortage of stunning natural scenery in Namibia and the country presents classic African beauty around just about every corner. Its variety is mind-blowing, while the quiet stillness slows down the pace and leaves time for reflection and inspiration. In the meantime… until you book your Namibian adventure with Afrika Lovers, here are some images below that will give you a glimpse into just how beautiful the dunes such as the Sossusvlei dunes (highest dune) are.

4. Diverse Culture

Today many still live that same unique life and tourists can visit San cultural centers and living museums.  Along with the Khoisan, there are many other groups including the Kavango, Herero, Owambo, Tswana, Caprivians, Himba, Nama, and Damara people, all of whom are proud of both their culture and their country.

Cultural tours and living museums are there to allow visitors access to the many beautiful African cultures that still thrive in Namibia today.
